INDUSTRY AT A GLANCE
The nutraceutical market is one of the fastest growing segments. The market for the popular dietary supplement ingredient curcumin was “valued at USD 58.4 Million in 2019 and is expected to witness a CAGR of 12.7% over the forecast period1.” With the expected growth over the next decade, it’s never been more important to help meet that growing demand with a cleaning solution that can improve your throughput and efficiency.
Turmeric (curcumin) is a yellow powder that can easily stain surfaces, especially when wet or blended with oil. The lightweight powder also spreads easily so it can affect all areas of the equipment train. Even the walls and floors of production rooms can be affected. If an ingredient has very specific working characteristics so should your cleaning solution.
The cleaning detergent industry offers many one-size-fits-all solutions but so few are designed with your specific needs. Generic cleaners typically lack the ability to trap and suspend the pigmented material which can lead to settling out of solution and redepositing on the surfaces you are trying to clean. One of the greatest impacts to production is re-cleaning because a cleaning agent is underperforming. Not only do throughput and production capacity in the manufacturing process suffer, but so too can the quality of the finished product.
A SOLUTION IN ACTION
Dober has decades of experience working with cleaning pigments and colorants, whether or not they are readily soluble in water. Our formulated detergents contain specialty surfactants and dispersants to help remove the stain causing pigments from surfaces and keep them suspended in the wash solution. Your cleaning agent should suspend and emulsify these components so that they remain suspended in your detergent solution and can be effectively flushed away with your final rinses. For more information on key performance indicators of your detergents, read our recently published article highlighting potential warning signs.
Watch this short video below, demonstrating the effectiveness of our Chematic 722 product in cleaning curcumin pigments. Notice the difference in color from our solution (on the left) and a generic cleaner (on the right). The deeper red confirms the detergent’s success in trapping a greater percentage of pigment in solution.
