Choose the Right Smart Release System for Your Cooling Tower Water Treatment Program

We've reviewed the benefits of Smart Release Technology and, in particular, SRG2, for your cooling tower water treatment program.

But one question you might be asking is "how do I know which feeder system is right for my operation?"

In other words, how do you size for the appropriate Smart Release Technology feeder system?

Two words: sizing calculator

Smart Release Technology Sizing Calculator

With the Smart Release sizing calculator, you can determine the right system for your cooling tower water treatment program.

First thing's first: how do you find the Smart Release sizing calculator on our website?

Smart Release Product Line Manager Justin Sullivan walks you through how to find it in the video below:

How to Use the Sizing Calculator

Now that you've found the sizing calculator, you'll want to know how to use it.

In the next video below, we'll explain just how to use it for your purposes.

All you'll need to do is input your cooling tower operating conditions. Once you've done that, the application will populate a detailed list of water usage stats, including your operating hours, holding time index and average evaporation rate, among other factors.

typical Tonnage of Smart release systems

People often ask us: What are the tonnage limitations with a Smart Release Technology program?

Well, we have had this same conversation with others time and time again and, truly, we don’t want to put a tonnage number on limiting Smart Release Technology’s capabilities.

Every application needs to be vetted on a case-by-case basis.

Executive Vice President Dan Dobrez explains more below:

In some cases, Smart Release Technology might not be a fit for you cooling tower water treatment program, and we understand that.  The key to the success of a Smart Release Technology Generation 1 (SRG1) program is ensuring you keep fresh product and tablets in your feeders every 30 days. Typically, you will find SRG1 programs on systems that range in tonnage from 100-500 tons (and in some cases up to 600 tons)

With the Smart Release Generation 2 (SRG2) system, you will be able to expand your market opportunities to applications you were not able to target with SRG1.

Systems with larger tonnage capacities and variable load swings are a great fit for SRG2. With SRG2, you will be able to target accounts that have 1,000-2,000 tons of cooling capacity

With that said, don’t allow this tonnage range to stop you from targeting larger accounts, as we at Dober do not want to limit SRG2. Using Smart Release Technology, rest assured the assets at your customer locations are properly protected from unwanted corrosion, scale and microbial upsets.
