New Season, New Soltellus™ Insights

Farming is never static, and neither are we. At Lygos, we believe that continuous improvement is the cornerstone of better agronomy. That’s why we’ve released a fully updated edition of our Soltellus™ Polymer Agronomy eBook, packed with new trial results, more crop-specific insights, and deeper dives into the science behind our polyaspartate polymer technology.

Whether you’re optimizing your nutrient program, addressing soil health, or simply looking for a more sustainable way to increase yields, this eBook will be your go-to guide for Soltellus application strategies across crops and growing conditions.

What Makes This Update Different?

The 2025 version of the Soltellus eBook goes well beyond product basics. It includes:

More Data from the Field

We’ve more than doubled the trial results from last year. This edition includes:

    • 21 side-by-side corn trial comparisons across eight states
    • Expanded soybean data, including a 10 bu/A yield increase from a single late-season pivot irrigation application
    • New performance metrics for cotton, potatoes, and silage corn
    • ROI calculations showing up to 10x return per acre

Each study highlights how Soltellus not only improves yields but also enhances nutrient uptake, soil health, and microbial activity. One key takeaway: Soltellus significantly increased yields in 90% of corn trials, delivering an average yield gain of 7.1 bu/A and a profit potential of $21.44 per acre, even after product costs of $10/acre.

Highlights from the 2023–2024 Trials

Let’s take a peek at some of the new trial highlights from the eBook:

Corn

Corn remains the most extensively tested crop in our portfolio. The new edition includes:

    • In-furrow + Y-drop applications that resulted in 30% more nitrogen, 18% more phosphorus, and 27% more potassium in plant tissues
    • MAP + Soltellus trials in five states showing an average +5 bu/A gain
    • UAN + Soltellus trials with a 100% win rate and +4.5 bu/A yield lift
    • A compelling comparison showing Soltellus outperformed NBPT-treated urea in 3 out of 4 trials, with an average gain of +9.7 bu/A

Split application strategies are also now a key feature. In Iowa trials, farmers who applied Soltellus at planting and again at V6–V12 saw yield increases as high as 8.9 bu/A.

Soybeans

In Missouri, a grower demonstration applied Soltellus at the pod fill stage via pivot irrigation. The result?

    • 10 bu/A yield increase
    • Improved consistency in yield distribution across the pivot
    • An ROI of 6.7x

It’s proof that even one timely application can make a substantial difference.

Cotton

In Kansas, Soltellus was applied mid-bloom through center pivot at the recommended 0.5 gal/acre rate, and the results showed:

    • A 34% increase in total boll count across all positions (positions 1–4)
    • The largest gains were seen at Position 2, a key contributor to yield

This early data was so promising that it has prompted additional full-season cotton yield trials in 2025.

Potatoes

Potato growers, take note: In Idaho, Soltellus was applied to MAP fertilizer ahead of planting Clearwater Russet potatoes. The treated plots delivered:

    • +810 lb/A of total marketable yield
    • +530 lb/A of U.S. No. 1 grade potatoes

That’s a significant commercial lift, especially in a crop where grade quality drives premium pricing.

Soil and Water: A Dual Impact

Soltellus is more than just a yield booster. It’s a soil health and water efficiency enhancer.

In the updated eBook, you’ll find a deeper breakdown of how Soltellus:

    • Chelates essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and iron—keeping them bioavailable and reducing lock-up in hard water
    • Enhances microbial activity by creating a better physical environment and providing an additional carbon/nitrogen food source as it degrades
    • Supports drought tolerance with hygroscopic properties that hold water near the root zone

Soltellus is completely biodegradable, leaving no microplastics or toxic residues behind, making it safer for your soil, crop, and future seasons.

Flexible Application = Real-World Versatility

We know timing is everything in agriculture. That’s why the updated eBook includes new, easy-to-read timing charts for each crop and recommended application methods.
